The Festival Edit: Your Guide to Festival Dressing in 2025

June 25, 2025

What do you wear to a festival in 2025?  Don't worry, we've got you covered!

Festival season is here, and whether you're dancing under the sun or dodging a downpour, your outfit should be as memorable as the music. The key? Balancing practicality with personality and we are all about the personality; the style personality. Do you know yours? Festival time is basically permission to dial it all up and wear the things you would secretly love to wear but don’t necessarily have the guts. Well get gutsy! Mix your colours, your fabrics, your textures, the lot! Wellies with cut off denims and fringed vest and a hooj cowboy hat is perfectly acceptable.   But let’s be practical for a moment. With unpredictable weather, muddy fields, and marathon days ahead, we've compiled the ultimate guide to looking effortlessly cool while staying dry, comfortable, and eye-catchingly stylish.

Our Style and Colour Top Tips for Festival Dressing: Rain or Shine

1. Layer Like a Pro

2025 is all about lightweight layering. Start with a breathable base (like a mesh or crochet top), throw on a statement jacket, and always pack a waterproof layer. Look for foldable rain macs in bold prints or metallic finishes—they’re space-saving and style-boosting.

2. Choose Smart Footwear

Trainers might feel tempting, but when the rain hits, you’ll be glad you wore chunky platform boots or festival-ready wellies. Whatever your style you WILL want comfort; you’re going to be on your feet for hours. Think about the functional Wellington boot but in fabulous colours.

3. Bag Some Colour

You will need a bag for your essentials. It needs to accommodate your phone, your hand sanitiser, your emergency tissues, sunscreen, sunglasses…… we could go on. Opt for crossbody bags or bum bags (yes, they’re still in!) for max freedom or choose an amazing colour tote that lifts your whole outfit. You'll thank yourself when you're in the middle of a crowd and still have your essentials secure.

4. Prep for Sun and Rain

Don’t forget sunglasses with UV protection, a packable hat, and eco-friendly SPF. Then counter the rain threat with a bucket hat in waterproof nylon or a hooded poncho that folds into its own pouch. It’s about style and survival people.

2025 Festival Fashion Looks to Try Out

This year's festival forecast is all about eclectic maximalism meets conscious comfort. Here’s what’s trending:

1. Techno Boho

Think rave meets Woodstock—fringed vests, tie-dye, cargo pants, and sheer layers in psychedelic prints. Mix old-school textures with futuristic accessories like LED jewellery or light-reactive fabrics.

2. Luxe Texture

Opt for crochet, fringing, soft suedes, distressed denim, lace detailing. The choice is yours. Mix and match; the more eclectic the better. Accessories can really bring the texture variety too.

3. Hypercolour

From iridescent raincoats to multi-coloured kaftans, the spotlight is on more more more colour. Go for bold contrast or abstract blending of colours in a palette to suit your skin tone so you always look fabulous even when the morning’s application of makeup is melting in the afternoon sun. And don’t just stop at your clothes, remember to pack your glitter darlings.

 4. Make a Statement

Oversized earrings, stacked cuffs, colourful sunnies, and beautiful belts are the name of the game. Bonus points for clashing textures and bold colour combinations.

5. Micro Maxi

The fashion paradox of the season: micro shorts and maxi layers. Pair shorty shorts with maxi kaftans or sheer overlays to play with proportion while staying breezy and sun-protected.

Festival Dressing Hacks

Always carry a foldable tote for those inevitable merch or food hauls.

Pre-plan outfits by day (label them in your bag even!) so you’re not scrambling in a tent.

Test your outfit dancing, sitting, and walking—comfort is king after hour 6.

Don’t forget a reusable water bottle, and pick one that clips to your bag or belt. Be sure to check you’re permitted to take this into the arena or you’ll run the risk of confiscation.

The Final Edit

Festivals are more than just music—they’re full-blown style runways, and your look is your vibe. But the best festival outfit is the one that lets you move freely, stay dry, and express yourself loudly. Choose weather-smart fabrics, embrace the trends that speak to you, and never underestimate the power of a good waterproof layer. I know! Who even am I?

Dance like it’s sunny. Dress like it might rain. And do it all in style.

The short answer? Yes! But wait for it, there’s more to it than that! Shopping sustainably requires you to buy only things you know you will wear so let’s make sure you find the right yellow for you. Buying the wrong tone might leave you looking a tad under the weather and less likely to wear your new purchase again and again.

Now that the decorations are back in the loft (?), there is no better time for a fresh start, a declutter (or I prefer to use the word 'edit') - it's time to take back control. Of course, this will mean different things for different people. It might be eating more healthily, drinking less alcohol, sorting the finances, organising your wardrobe or clearing out the kitchen cupboards. For me, it's about re-evaluating my priorities in business and ensuring I am working as effectively as possible (oh and all of the above too of course!) .

Doing my own colours.... 'Having your colours done' is not a phrase which means something to everyone. And the 'seasonal system' can appear misleading... people often think if they are a 'Winter' this has a reflection on their character (cold or dark!). So let me enlighten you a little...
