Join us for our first Garment Alteration workshop on Wednesday 30th April 10am-4pm...

This one day in person course is run by Sarah Tinks Cross.   A regular on local BBC radio channels and Author of ‘2nd SKIN – How to Manage your Clothes & be Stylish. Sarah has helped hundreds of women learn how to alter and up-sew clothing for personal style & perfect fit.


This particular workshop is based on hems.  Learn how to:

1. Accurately fit and measure hem alterations on oneself. (Trousers/jumpsuits, skirts/dresses, tops/jackets)

2. Prepare a hem before sewing.

3. Sew 4 different hem types and which fabrics they are used on.

4. Sew straight hems & curved hems

5. Hand sew & machine sew - pros & cons of each

Now that the decorations are back in the loft (?), there is no better time for a fresh start, a declutter (or I prefer to use the word 'edit') - it's time to take back control. How good are clothing subscription boxes? Stitch Fix and Lookiero reviewed.

If you are new to subscription boxes, this is how they work. For your styling fee of £10 you receive five items of clothing in the post (which can include shoes). You then have seven days to try them at home. Returns are free (as is shipping) - the only money you stand to lose is your £10 styling fee if you choose to return all items. I signed up to STITCH FIX and Lookiero as the two leading names in this relatively new market and these are my findings:
