My top five tips:

1. Don't overdo it!  Keep sparkle classy by limiting it to just one item in your outfit.  I absolutely love the more dressed down look of combat trousers with a sparkly top or a sparkly skirt with a cosy jumper.
2. If you prefer an even more understated look, keep the fabrics more day-to-day but introduce jewel colours (royal blues, fuchsia pinks and emerald greens) - a much more interesting option than black. 
3. Plissé is THE new fabric to look out for at the moment.  It's a lightweight, crinkly crepe fabric - often with a subtle sheen but always with plenty of movement and works wonders on all body shapes!
4. Invest in a pair of metallic boots/shoes.  Add pewter, gold, bronze or silver into your footwear options and jazz any outfit up with a more modern twist.  (And don't forget - this look is NOT just reserved for Christmas!).
5. Whilst stiletto heels will always be a glamourous choice, in reality, not many of us are comfortable walking in them anymore.  Block heels are your new go to - be it in sandal or boot form.
